International festival celebrates cultural uniqueness
The Ohio State University at Marion Office of Diversity and the campus’s student multi-cultural club are pleased to host a community-wide free public international festival, A Taste of Culture, Wednesday, May 14, 5-9 p.m., at the Alber Student Center on the Marion campus.
A Taste of Culture will play host to a multitude of informational booths, live entertainment, food from around the world, arts and crafts, and short educational discussions. Bringing together the customs, traditions, color, and flavor of peoples from diverse ethnicities highlights what organizers hope will become a yearly community event that grows each year. Annual Norman Thomas Lecture tackles world energy crisis
The Ohio State University at Marion welcomes author and activist Harvey Wasserman to the Marion campus, Monday, May 19, 12 noon, in Maynard Hall’s Guthery Community Room. Wasserman will present the 36th Annual Norman Thomas Memorial Lecture, “Getting to Solartopia and a Green-Powered Earth.”
Wasserman will discuss the world's energy crisis and how it can be solved by a total conversion to a "Solartopian" economy based entirely on green power and efficiency.
According to Wasserman, the attempt to revive nuclear power is a catastrophic mistake in terms of economy, ecology, and the threat of terrorism. more...

Ohio State Marion golfer wins individual honors
Alan Dixon, junior golfer for The Ohio State University at Marion, was presented the overall medalist award at the Ohio University Zanesville Tracer Golf Classic, Saturday, April 26, 2008.
Dixon shot a 73 for the day, leading a field of 80 golfers who participated in the tournament. At one point, he was 4 under par during a 7-hole stretch of the 18-hole course. The Tracer Golf Classic includes all Ohio Regional Campus Conference (ORCC) competition, as well as four at large teams from outside the conference. He also finished runner-up at Ohio State Newark’s Golf Invitational the day prior.
Although he won individual honors at the ORCC State Tournament in 2006, Dixon feels his work on the links and in practice continue to pay dividends and his game has become more consistent.
